Dr. Katherine Dahlsgaard is Founder and Director of Brave is Better Consulting and Therapy.
She focuses her efforts on the promotion of evidence-based psychotherapy via her clinical practice, speaking and writing, consultation, and training.
Dr. Dahlsgaard is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in CBT for children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Dahlsgaard specializes in evidence-based assessment and treatment of anxiety and related disorders.
She was previously the Founder and Clinical Director of the Anxiety Behaviors Clinic and the Picky Eaters Clinic in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She was also the co-founder and co-director of the Food Allergy Bravery Clinic at CHOP's Food Allergy Center.
Dr. Dahlsgaard developed the Scale of Food Allergy Anxiety, which can be downloaded for free for research and clinical use here. Her research on treatment of severe food allergy fears was published here. Her research on treatment of picky eating/ARFID was published here.
Dr. Dahlsgaard also serves as a media expert, educator, writer, lecturer, and keynote speaker. She writes columns for The Philadelphia Inquirer on topics related to mental health and serves on their Health Advisory Panel. Dr. Dahlsgaard was the recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, Pennsylvania Psychology Association's Psychology in the Media Award, the Friend of Pennsylvania School Nurses Award, and teaching awards from both of CHOP's Psychology Internship and Psychiatry Fellowship programs.
